Yesterday, my “Paw Paw” went on to heaven. I was very fortunate to spend 4 years in Lexington, Kentucky from 1999-2003. During that time, I made frequent trips to the family farm in Sissonville, West Virginia where I would sit for hours and talk with my grandfather. He would tell me stories from when he was a boy and what life was like for him growing up in the mountains of West Virginia. I am very grateful for those times. He lived 95 years here before embracing eternity. I know I will see him again as one of his favorite topics of discussion with me, his “preacher boy,” was sharing about the Lord and what He meant to us. Thanks Paw Paw for your faith and for your time those 4 years. It meant a lot to me and to my family to be with you. Jesse will always remember you. He was always excited when you let him ride your quad or gave him $5. You told me once, “Most people are like pigs eating acorns, they never look up to give thanks for where they come from.” Paw Paw, I give thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for you and the time I got to spend with you. I love you and will see you on the other side where we can tell stories about the Lord and His goodness to us forever.
Love,
Doug
